The flood in Assam took the life of 14. The lakhs of people are affected. 29 districts in Assam are in the grip of the flood. The death toll rose to 14 when two more people died in Cachar district, Lakhimpur and Nagaon.
Moreover, the state is facing landslides. The agriculture sector is worsley affected, and a total of 80036.90-hectare crop areas have been destroyed. Crops in 2,251 villages are under flood. 234 relief camps are opened, and around 74,705 people are camping there.
A total of 269 people have been saved. The Indian Air Force carried food items to flood-affected districts. The Government of Assam allowed Rs 2 crore each to Cachar and Dima Hasao districts.
Unicef sent seven teams containing technical specialists and consultants. They can help disaster management authorities of Cachar, Hojai, Darrang, Biswanath, Nagaon, Morigaon and Dima Hasao.
A team from ISRO is taking stock of the casualties in Dima Hasao. They are using the possibility of drones and satellite data. It will help the post-flood activities. They are trying to restart the communication system. The communication with the hilly areas is destroyed.
River Kopili is above the danger level, and it caused a lot of casualties in many districts of the state.
Disang and Brahmaputra rivers are above the danger level causing a lot of casualties in the area. Places such as Dharamtul, Nanglamuraghat and Neamatighat are under the water.
At the same time over 500 families from Jamunamukh district, are living on the railway tracks. It is the only high place in the area.
