‘Dream Project’ in Gujarat doesn’t get government sanction to start in June. Many meetings and interactions have been conducted regarding this subject.
According to the report, the government got 350 applications, and 70 applicants were shortlisted for the ‘Dream Project’ in Gujarat on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode. ‘Residential Schools of Excellence’ project may not be implemented in the current academic year.
Education Minister Jitu Vaghani informed the reporters that the government is not ready to compromise on the quality. It may take some time to complete the process of finalizing applications.
The applicants for the ambitious project include religious organisations, philanthropists, private universities, NRIs and NGOs. The ambitious scheme is expected to provide free residential schooling.
The scheme will be a private public partnership and they can utilize investment in infrastructure, human resource, logistics etc. The upcoming project is expected to launch for 2,000-10,000 students.
Besides, the money needed for the scheme will be spent by the project partner. The state government is ready to put aside Rs 60,000 per child per year for the recurring costs. The amount will be increased 7% per year.
The government intended to implement it in 50 schools. Moreover, the reports said the government of Gujarat had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the implementation of the ambitious project. The students of class 6-8 will study bilingual. The students can study in English from Class 9.
Residential Schools of Excell-ence can provide education, accommodation and boarding facilities to students of classes 6 to 12. It will be via Samagra Shiksha-Gujarat Council for School Education. Swaminarayan group, kathakar Rameshbhai Oza and private universities showed interest in this project.
