BJP's Manik Saha Is The Chief Minister Of Tripura

Manik Saha is the Chief Minister of Tripura after the resignation of Biplab Kumar Deb. The assembly polls will be conducted in Tripura in a year. Mr Saha is a doctor by profession.

It was Mr Deb who declared the name of Manik Saha during the BJP legislature party meeting. The decision to make Saha the chief minister caused protests. Some MLAs said the issue had not been discussed with them. Minister Ram Prasad Paul broke the chair protesting the decision. According to reports, Minister Ram Prasad Paul wanted to make Jishnu Dev Varma as Tripura Chief Minister.

Mr Saha is a Rajya Sabha MP as well as the Tripura state president of the BJP. Mr Saha said to the media that he was a common worker of the party and would continue to be so.

The newly elected Manik Saha is 69-year-old. The surgeon-turned-politician came to BJP in 2016. He was working in the Tripura Medical College and BR Ambedkar Memorial Teaching Hospital in Agartala.

The resignation of CM Biplab Kumar Deb is a sudden move. The report says the decision of the BJP is to face the 2023 assembly election.

On Saturday Biplab Kumar Deb submitted his resignation in front of Governor SN Arya. The resignation letter was one-line.

The decision of the BJP leadership was sudden and even Deb’s cabinet colleagues were unaware of the move. Before the resignation, Deb had talked to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday. Deb informed the reporter that the party needed him for organisational work.

The responsibility on the shoulders of the new Chief minister is big because he has to lead the party into the elections in 2023. Before joining the BJP, Saha was in the Congress party.
